There is still a certain taboo surrounding urological problems. Whether it is about urine leakage or prostate complaints: they are not topics that people talk about easily. As a result, men often keep such complaints to themselves for a long time.

This is unfortunate and unnecessary. Many urological disorders are in fact perfectly treatable. By raising the alarm in time, you can prevent symptoms from getting worse and regain control of your daily life.

Recognise the signs

Men often downplay their initial symptoms: “it will pass” or “it's part of getting older”. Often, it is the partners who sound the alarm because they see a decline in quality of life. What should you look out for?

● Urinary leakage: This is not an inevitable ailment of old age. It is often caused by an enlarged prostate or an overactive bladder, which can be remedied with medication or minor surgery.

● Prostate symptoms: There is an important difference between prostatitis (often accompanied by fever and pain), prostate pain (chronic discomfort in the pelvic floor) and prostate cancer.

● PSA determination: A blood test for PSA levels is essential when in doubt about the prostate. PSA stands for Prostate Specific Antigen, a protein in the blood. It gives us an initial indication of whether further investigation is needed.

● Bladder pain: Do you suffer from persistent urges or burning sensations without a bacterial infection? If so, you may have chronic bladder pain that requires specialist care.

Personalised care without waiting time

At Parkweg Clinic Sommer, we understand that going to the urologist can be exciting. Our clinic is deliberately small-scale and homely in order to lower the threshold. You will always see the same doctor with us. That personal contact and our short lines of communication make all the difference.

Unlike regular hospitals, where waiting times for urology sometimes reach months, you can always come to us for your initial consultation within one week.

What does a trajectory look like?

1. Referral: You request a referral from your GP.

2. Intake: The assistant immediately schedules an interview. If necessary, we request blood tests in advance.

3. Consultation: During the first consultation with the urologist, we immediately try to clarify matters as much as possible by ultrasound or physical examination.

4. Treatment plan: We immediately discuss possible solutions.

Reimbursement by your insurer

All medical treatments at Parkwegkliniek Sommer are fully reimbursed by your health insurer (after deducting the legal excess), provided you have a referral from your GP. In this regard, it does not matter whether we have a contract with your health insurer.

Don't keep running with it

Are you experiencing discomfort or worry? Then get it looked into. Often the cause is easily treatable and you really don't have to keep walking around with it.

Contact your GP for a referral to Parkway Clinic Sommer. We are happy to take the time for you.

["post-1913","nieuws","type-nieuws","status-publish","hentry
["GET
