Vaginal laser

Diva Tight laser

A revolutionary breakthrough in the non-hormonal treatment of post-menopausal  vaginal complaints. The Diva Tight laser is now available in the Netherlands. Since 2013, over 100.000 treatments were performed. Treated women are very enthusiastic about this new, non-hormonal treatment of vaginal complaints. Multiple scientific articles are published about the working mechanism of this laser describing the positive effects of this method, of which the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on its turn approved. Within the field of dermatology the fractionated CO2 laser has been used for years for treatment of acne scarring or skin burns, and recently for skin-rejuvenation.

Diva Tight advantages:

  • Best non-hormonal treatment for vaginal atrophy
  • Treatment is painless
  • Treatment is safe
  • Treatment is outpatient
  • Treatment has longlasting result

Do you suffer from vaginal discomfort in way of:

  • Itching and burning sensation
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Reoccurring infections
  • Wounds at the entrance of the vagina
  • Reoccuring inflammation of the bladder
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Slight urine-loss

These are very common symptoms of atrophy (thinning of the vaginal wall and the mucous membrane). About 40% of post-menopausal women experience symptoms of vaginal atrophy. Vaginal atrophy is a consequence of estrogen deficiency. After menopause, the ovaries stop producing estrogens. This causes the collagen in the soft tissue  of the vagina to deteriorate, which makes it vulnerable during intercourse and easily accessible to infections. The lack of collagen not only causes the soft tissue to degenerate, it also causes it to lose its natural elasticity. Subsequently, hydration decreases due to decreased circulation. The environment of the vagina changes, potentially causing the aforementioned discomforts.  Sometimes menopause has early onset because of chemotherapy or radiation.

The laser technique helps women with stress incontinence: in case of a mild form of urine loss. These patients often do pelvic floor exercises, but this laser offers a sustainable solution. With a mild form of incontinence the laser treatment can even replace surgery.

The laser treatment improves the structure of the vaginal wall. The laser causes a structural change of the vagina, causing the moisture level to recover. Itching and pain are history. Additionally, the laser treatment tightens the tissue of the vaginal wall, causing it to not press against the urinary passage. Eliminating the pressure on the urinary passage (urethra) prevents from unwanted urine loss during movement. One to three treatments are required, this differs for every patient. After every treatment, we measure the effect and decide if a follow-up is required. The treatment is pain free, so (local) anesthesia is not necessary. Directly after treatment, the patient can return to her regular activities.

New in the Netherlands

Dr. Anja Sommer is happy to be one of the first in the Netherlands to take away the physical complaints with the Diva Tight. “For most women, it is not easy to be open about a subject like vaginal discomfort. I hope, as a female doctor, I can make this easier for my patients and help women with a sustainable solution.”

Diva Tight vs other lasers

Other lasers on the market for vaginal treatments use only ablative waves. To stimulate the collagen an activity of at least 1540nm is required. The collagen stimulation of solely the CO2 laser is much less effective. The Diva Tight combines both waves and so stimulates the deeper layers, resulting in better results for our patients
