Birthmark

Birthmarks/ moles are benign piled pigmentation cells in the skin. This is a normal phenomenon and can be present from birth on. Most birthmarks however, don’t arise until later in life. Practically everyone grows multiple birthmarks, about 25 on average. Besides normal, benign birthmarks, very turbulent and malignant birthmarks exist.

Treatment

Skin screening is very important to notice changes. Important differences are color changes, growth, spontaneous bleeding, itching and pain. It is also important to ask the family after cases of skin cancer (melanoma).
